UNDER THE RADAR CELEBRATIONS

Capodanno at Castle Hill Inn (Newport, Rhode Island)

Castle Hill Inn is the ideal place to both relax and celebrate while ringing in the New Year. This year, from December 30 to January 1, Castle Hill Inn is putting an Italian spin on the holiday. ‘Capodanno’, the Italian word for New Year’s Eve, is the culmination of holiday festivities and a very special moment to share with dearest friends and family. Last year marked Castle Hill Inn’s first Capodanno celebration, and guests enjoyed the festivities so much that Chef Lou will dream up another Italian-inspired menu and evening to ring in 2018 featuring delights such as white truffles, lentils, and limoncello. After a joyous night, guests are invited to enjoy Castle Hill’s “Richiamino,” Italian for ‘hair of the dog,’ brunch on NewYear’s Day. Prices start at $725.00 per night, plus tax.

Conrad Dublin (Dublin, Ireland)

On the heels of a multi-million dollar transformation, Conrad Dublin will ring in the New Year in style with an overnight stay package for two that includes dinner at The Coburg, a live musical performance at Lemuel’s and breakfast starting at $341.00 per person. The 192-room hotel located in the heart of Dublin offers travelers the opportunity to create lasting memories this winter through an unforgettable trip to Ireland. The Coburg offers travelers a true brasserie experience with a locally inspired menu and interiors outfitted in holiday decor. For those looking to celebrate the evening with a special touch, book a seat at the champagne table, an elevated dining experience boasting views over the restaurant and access to a selection of the finest champagnes. Lemuel’s lounge pays homage to traditional Irish culture with a dash of magic.

If you plan on spending New Year’s Eve at home to avoid the crowds, you can still make it a memorable evening as Whole Foods Market is offering 15% off any caviar through January 2nd. Make sure to pair it with one of two different champagnes that are both in the RM category, meaning the same person or family is growing the grape and producing the wine. These champagnes are representative of the village and vineyards they are grown. They are typically made in relatively small batches with a high focus on quality. The first one is Bernard Remy (honestly I personally find this to be one of the best best champagnes out there ). The second is the J. Lassalle Champagne Brut Premier Cru and that also pairs wonderfuly with oysters, crab, scallops, aged comte, young goat cheese, and burrata. Think of this as the champagne you serve before dinner. Its fresh and expressive with white flowers, round, elegant with a long balanced finish. For more information, visit: Whole Foods
