Cinco de Mayo 2019

Spread the love

Cinco de Mayo has become a holiday that is celebrated as much in America as it is in Mexico and Los Angeles offers to many options to celebrate on May 5th this year.

If you are looking for a little heat with your beer, you can try Golden Road’s Spicy Mango Challenge, which launches this Sunday on Cinco De Mayo. The event will be from 11:00 am –  5:00 pm at both the Los Angeles and Orange County pubs on 5/5.

After 5/5, Pub LA will have this challenge each Wednesday for the month of May (Wing Wednesday) and Pub OC will have this challenge each Tuesday for the month of May (Taco Tuesday).

Regardless of where you are celebrating, Modelo has three Cheladas – New Modelo Chelada Limon y Sal, Modelo Chelada Especial and sweet and spicy Modelo Chelada Tamarindo Picante that are perfect alone or to pair with some Mexican flavors on Cinco de Mayo.

Modelo has put together some mouthwatering seasonal chelada and ceviche recipe pairings that are perfect for however you plan celebrate. Each traditional Mexican recipe is big on flavor, but also light and refreshing with varying spice levels. On the mild end they have Mexican Fish & Mango Ceviche, next a traditional Mexican Shrimp Ceviche and we kick up the heat and cap it off with Shrimp in Red Aguachile.

These recipes are inspired by Modelo’s newly launched lime-based, ready-to-drink chelada – Modelo Chelada Limón y Sal. Simply made with Mexican beer and the refreshing natural flavors of lime and salt, Modelo Chelada Limón y Sal provides a new way to enjoy the classic chelada experience, as it’s the only lime-based, ready to drink chelada currently available in the U.S. market. Because ceviche is always “cooked” with lime juice and salt, it’s the perfect complement to a cold and refreshing chelada.

If you are looking for something refreshing to beat the heat on Cinco de Mayo, Corona has a great new beverage that is perfect to do just that. Corona Refresca brings the flavor and the feeling of the tropics to you with their premium, alcohol-spiked refresher available in Passionfruit Lime and Guava Lime. Crisp.

Four Corners Brewing Co. out of Dallas has two great beers to help celebrate Cinco de Mayo, their El Chingón IPA as well as their brand-new El Grito lager, which were both recently introduced to the Los Angeles market, marking the first region outside of Texas the acclaimed craft brewer’s beers will be available. Four Corners brings together craft beer culture and bicultural heritage to create bold, flavorful and sessionable beers accompanied by one-of-a-kind Hispanic-inspired branding.

Four Corners

“There are many IPAs but only one is ‘El Chingón’,” said Esquivel. As the name indicates, the beer is aggressive with a chingón factor of 7.3% ABV and 72 IBU. The brew profile is malt forward balanced with a badass blend of American C hops. The label artwork of a big hop cone is a symbol of reverence to the West Coast-style IPA movement, which served as its inspiration.

On the lighter side, El Grito Lager is a perfect choice for sunny California weather. The beer balances a traditional pilsner malt with Huell Melon hops, which add hints of citrus notes and a slight floral aroma. At 4.4% ABV, El Grito Lager is a crisp, snappy, sessionable beer. On the label is a crowing rooster shouting, “rise & shine it’s puro party time!”

Tequila is simply a must on Cinco de Mayo and 1800, the year the world’s first premium tequila was born, is perfect for anything you are doing that day.  For more than 200 years, 1800 Tequila has never wavered from its original formula and distillation process — producing a 100% agave, quality liquid each and every time.  We have highlighted the four varieties as well as a great cocktail to enjoy on Cinco de Mayo.

1800 Silver

Made from 100% Weber blue agave – aged for 8 – 12 years and harvested at their peak. The liquid is double distilled, and a special selection of white tequilas is blended together for added complexity and character. The result is a premium tequila with a smoother, more interesting flavor than most on the market. The clean, balanced taste with hints of sweet fruit and pepper is perfect sipped neat, on the rocks, as a shot or in a cocktail.

Available on ReserveBar for $34.

1800 Reposado

This rich liquid has notes of buttery caramel, mild spices and a touch of smokiness, which is imparted by the finishing process. Perfect mixed in a cocktail or on the rocks.

Available on ReserveBar for $34.
